Anyone Can Be an Entrepreneur. Here’s Why

There is a growing community of people out there who believe that entrepreneurs are “born” not “made.” In other words, you either have the innate talent to be a business leader, or you don’t. But is that true?

Possibly not. It turns out that there is growing evidence that practically anyone can become an entrepreneur. It just requires having the right frame of mind.

Entrepreneurs are not the same as musicians, singers, poets and other artists with immense skill. Unlike creatives, they don’t rely on just one skill. In fact, they have to be generalists – knowing about multiple different areas. They rarely get to the pinnacle of their industries through practice. Instead, they rely on their gut intelligence to navigate through the world, making positive decisions in real-time, until they get to where they want to be.

Actually becoming an entrepreneur is a far more practical experience than you might imagine. You don’t need flights of imagination or even particularly good people skills. You just need a go-getter attitude that sets you apart from the rest of the crowd.

Here are some of the reasons why anyone can become an entrepreneur.

Anyone Can Seize the Day

Seizing the day is all about stepping outside of your comfort zone and doing the difficult things. Most people shy away from such challenges. But entrepreneurs step into the fray and have courage to face difficulties head on. That’s because they ultimately believe in their ideas and the power they have to transform their customers’ lives.

Entrepreneurs are not immune to the fear of failure. Instead, what motivates them is the prospect of challenge and the willingness to tackle steep learning curves. It’s not about their intrinsic talents, but their attitude towards their work.

Anyone Can Commit to Learning

Speaking of which, learning is a major factor of becoming an entrepreneur. Rarely are top entrepreneurs people with doctorates and research degrees. Instead, they are individuals who simply committed to learning their crafts and getting on with it.

They are also willing to reach out to others in their pursuit of knowledge. Sometimes they will ask a business transformation consultant how to take their company to the next level. Other times, they will speak with a mentor to coach them through emotionally challenging times. They will also go to conferences and networking events to pick up information from their peers.

Anyone Can Focus On “Doing”

Entrepreneurs relentlessly focus on “doing” instead of scheming. Their goal is to put business systems in place that generate money as fast as they can. They implement their ideas as quickly as possible.

In that way, they are practical people. You’ll notice that they rarely demand perfection. Instead, they try to create minimally-viable products and services – just something that they can sell – and then iterate on it over time.

This approach allows them to bring their business goals to fruition. They know they can’t create perfect products immediately. But that doesn’t matter. So long as they are building business systems, they are happy.
