And you thought $25 for FluffyBunnySlippers.com was expensive

Written by: Travis  |  Category: Articles

Fluffy Bunny SlippersDomains have been a common topic of discussion lately in the forums. Some young go getters have shelled out the value of a tasty lunch to grab a catchy URL. But our acquisitions are chump change compared to an auction that took place yesterday in New York.

T.R.A.F.F.I.C. is an enormous gathering for the domain elite to buy and sell the URLs we all wish we had thought of back in ‘96.

Some of the bigger auctions included:

CreditCheck.com - $3,000,000
Seniors.com - $1,800,000
Cardiology.com - $550,000
Bald.com - $400,000
CarSales.com - $400,000

Not all of the domains were short and to the point. Some were quite odd, and still managed to fetch what some people make over the course of a year:

ZN.com - $95,000
Dont.com - $30,000
Cantaloupe.com - $30,000
Clap.com - $21,000
ClubSoda.com - $20,000

You can see the full list of domains, from $3,000,000 right down to $4,750, here.

If you’d like to be a part of this rich man’s game, Business 2.0 featured an article last issue on the biggest player, Kevin Ham, and how to play the domain market.

Damnit! I searched on register.com for that domain right before I wrote this post and it said it was available.

    Damn you Register.com. Damn you!

Lol - great post title. But I’m a little surprised at ZN.com and Clap.com - I would have thought that they’d go for something ridiculous.

I’m representing a huge cache of domains - over 5,000 of them! If anyone would like a copy of the spread sheet to see if there is one - or 20 that they like - let me know. cpeterc@comcast.net
