    Kevin's Turn!
We put in an offer today on a new construction. In a nice development, seven different floorplans. Agent said we could offer whatever we wanted (under 'retail'), but that builder will most likely say no. We offered $3k less in hopes of meeting in the middle. Every little bit counts.

3/2 1,739 sq. feet, 2 car garage. Small backyard, covered patio (could be screened in). Decent view of retention pond, heavily wooded in between pond and us. All brick. Been under construction only 2-3 weeks. Is framed and somewhat roofed. Will be done mid to late September if all goes well.

We are PUMPED! Our first house!

We are going to need furniture like crazy...

    I'll keep you all updated!

Congratulations man! We'll be moving into our new homes around the same time if all goes well! Sounds like a cute place, good first home! Post floor plan pics if you can get your hands on any.

That debate is going on right now :) I would prefer something more eco friendly in the long run like bamboo and cork in the kitchen... same argument for concrete counter tops rather than laminate or granite.

We can't decide on the floors! I'll keep everyone updated...

Go hardwood. You can get some decent wide-oak for like a $1.50 sq/ft plus $2.00-$3.00 sq/ft for install at a lumber liquidator. Before you get Bamboo, check around online for some reviews of it. I've heard some good things but also some very scary things. Do your homework I guess is what I'm saying.

Although I bet your builder is going to have to do all those upgrades and are going to step on the price so it probably wont end up being $1.50 sq/ft for ya. You could always ask if they'll let you do it yourself :)

We've decided we would rather have carpet anyways. Depending on the counter top options we may upgrade, we may not. We may just use that money for closing costs.
