The Book Round-Up: What I’m Reading
Just Finished
Wikinomics by Don Tapscott & Anthony D. Williams
Interesting book about the new frontier for information sharing in the collaborative future. Covering not just web 2.0 topics, but how classic industries are harnessing the power and intelligence of the global community.
My Recommendation: Read It
iCon by Jeffrey S. Young & William L. Simon
An unauthorized biography about Steve Jobs. Steve has a great story and some mega successes in life, but it was interesting to see some of the not so sparkling parts in his past. The book did a good job of showing the “human” behind the creative machine that is Apple.
My Recommendation: Read It
The Art of the Start by Guy Kawasaki
Simple easy to read advice for entrepreneurs. Guy does a good job of cutting thru the crap to give good advice. I’ve already used some of the good info in the book as inspiration in my Branding Made Easy, and Cheap post.
My Recommendation: Read It
Reading Now
Mavericks at Work by William C. Taylor & Polly LaBarre
Takes you on many journeys through the makings of some of the most innovative companies and what makes them unique. Toy Companies, Airlines, Mining Giants… The tales are all a little different but with the common driving force of the individuals who do things a little different.
My Recommendation: Good Read So Far
Clear Blogging by Bob Walsh
I picked this book up as part of several books I recently bought covering blogging, social networks and how people are communicating globally… but to be honest I find myself skimming thru the book grabbing a useful bit of information every couple dozen pages. If you’re a blogger it is probably worth picking up for reference, but you can probably gleam what you need from a Venti Coffee and a long sit in your local Book Store.
My Recommendation: Skim It
Next On the List
The Dip by Seth Godin
Seth has a talent for putting good ideas to paper, so I expect The Dip to be another useful book in my library.
Blink by Malcom Gladwell
I’ve heard good things and the book has received a lot of praise. I’m curious to see what it is all about.
Confessions of a Serial Entrepreneur by Stuart Skorman
I enjoy reading stories about entrepreneurs… When I found the book in the store I skimmed the pages and there were a couple sections that caught my interest and his writing style felt comfortable and conversational.
Are you reading, or just finishing any great books you think we should be reading?

When you read a book do you take notes ?

Hey Michael,
Yeah I keep an index card in each book as a dual purpose bookmark and note card for writing down pages and ideas to remember.
Do you?

a suggestion - not on books though - links through to amazon for the books you suggest would be useful! (via your “associates” account of course)

That’s a pretty good list and some that I haven’t heard of and will have to check out.
I’ll look at my local library first.

Good suggestion Peter. I was being lazy before, but I added in the Amazon links.

I just picked up The Dip a few minutes ago and plan on reading it while on vacation this week.

Darius,
Index cards as bookmarks? Great Idea! Why didn’t I think of that?

The note card thing is an awesome idea. Some of the recent favorites of mine are The Anatomy of Buzz by Emanuel Rosen, The Tipping Point by Gladwell, Beyond Buzz by Lois Kelly, and just for fun - Under The Black Flag (about pirates) by David Cordingly
