Top 10 Motivational Songs for Entrepreneurs

February 26th, 2007 by Travis

Rockers

I had composed this list a few weeks ago. As a sign of what’s to come with copyright enforcement, every single video I had bookmarked has been yanked off of YouTube since then. Hopefully these will last at least a few days.

This list ranges from the 70s to present day, and each song that made the list was ranked by it’s lyrics, energy, and memorability.

Pamela over at Escape from Cubicle Nation had created a list of her top entrepreneurial songs back in October, and surprisingly enough, I chose 10 different songs than her.

Please feel free to suggest other songs that you find motivating in the comments and maybe we’ll put a second version of this list together down the road.

A few of the music videos were not available, so some of them are either the original music with a homemade video, or a re-recorded version.

Anyways, here are the Top 10 Motivational Songs for Entrepreneurs:

10. Counting Crows - Big Yellow Taxi

9. John Lennon - Imagine

8. John Mayer - Waiting on the World to Change

7. The O’Jays - For the Love of Money

6. Ben Harper - With My Own Two Hands

5. Fort Minor - Be Somebody

4. Incubus - Drive

3. Trooper - Raise a Little Hell

2. Queen - I Want it All

1. Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

  1. Eric Says:

Most of them are a bit too slow for me - and too old school. Don’t you know to get a lot of DIGGS you have to COPY people, not be different? :)

  2. Aaron Says:

I also need something more upbeat however there a couple of good songs there.

However, there is a difference between immediate get things done motivation and more long term inspirational motivation.

Songs like Imagine by John Lennon are more long term and a rap song by Jay z would be more up beat and get me working right now.

  3. Kasra Says:

Motivational indeed! Thanks for the entertainment.

  4. JerkyBeef Says:

A pretty good selection… but i have to agree, that upbeat tracks would be ideal for me. Still i love the selections though…

  17. Andre Says:

Um, this is the top 10 motivational songs… if you have no balls, and listen to playolla music on mainstream radio. Seriously, this list is pretty ginger beer, don’t you think?

  18. Emily Says:

Hey! Great song selection, but I think there could be a lot more, and some of the ancient songs up there could be revamped with some newer ones. How about “Stand” by Rascal Flats? Or “Mountains” by Lonestar? I really enjoyed the accompanying videos, though. Very nicely done. A simple paragraph about each song would be nice, too-kind of like a narration of why you found the song interesting or “motivational”. Then others might see from your point of view, and find the song just as “moving”. Thanks, I’ve enjoyed this.

  24. BEARCLAW Says:

Yeah, I think this list is a little tame. I like songs that get me pumped and ready to go like I’m about to go fifteen rounds with LIFE and come out of that battle worn and ragged but wearing a shining crown of glory.

Songs that make me feel like I’m a car speeding headlong into a towering wall made of everyidea and saying the world uses to hold you back and then bursting through it and watching it fall and crumble before my feet.

    AAAAAGH!! YES!
(I pretty excited sometimes, sorry I couldn’t help it.)

Here’s a few that do it for me.

    Foo Fighters - The Pretender
