The pet industry is booming right now! I remember seeing something on CNBC about how people are spending crazy amounts of money on their pets for some interesting luxury pet items like clothes, dog/cat carriers, bottled water, gourmet foods, and much more.

    Good luck Joey! *=)

@ Dave - yes we can, we have been spending the last few days, and the coming few days building on some new concepts for YGG. This is limiting my time at getting new stuff up, adding to this my fiancee has been sick and I have been taking care of my son (full time job).

I just wanted to help out a friend of the community with this post. Look for more new ideas to come!

    @ Dave and Frank:

Whether or not your point is shared with others, it is valid. However, the way to go about getting the point taken seriously by the powers that be is not to derail a perfectly good post (that, by the way, is right along the lines of what YGG is meant for), but to email the site admin and sell your thoughts.

I’d like to think that we can be more adult about these situations here at YGG.

    @ Lorren

So you’re saying that unless it’s a positive comment, don’t make it? Now how long would the blogosphere last if we all had to agree openly and only secretly (by contacting the admin) disagree? I had something to say and I said it. That’s what this is for. Low and behold another reader got sparked to comment because of what I said.

You say this is what the site is meant for, but I can’t remember the last time I saw an open sales letter on YGG.

It’s just an opinion and by no means does it mean I’m right, only that I believe so. Well, Frank too.

I think what he is saying is 1) Leave who you are to add credability and allow us to view your blog and comment on there, weither it is good or bad 2) offer some positive suggestions to improve the community rather than complaing and leaving it at that.

I am open to criticism, but to do it anonymously is a kick in the teeth to me. Thats like a customer calling me and telling me I did something worng without telling me who they are and giving me any chanche to explain myself or talk with them about it. Leaves me at a huge disadvantage.

I am trying my best to keep it going well making a lot of aditions to the site as well. I have gotten a lot of compliments on the way YGG is going as well.

I agree this last article is a little out of the ordinary but I was trying to help someone out. Thats what I do, thats what being a younggogetter is. Helping your other friends in business, right?

Comment however you like, just do so without hiding behind the internet. It is really easy to comment when you know noone is going to be able to fight back or call you out on it. I have made negative comments about a post I didn’t disagree with, but I left me name and contact details so I could offer my advice if the person wanted to contact me.

    I don’t have a blog. And I never leave a real e-mail because I’m tired of SPAM.

I didn’t comment and leave, either. I’ve been back to the discussion so what is the difference between this and you having my e-mail address?

And If I may just point out you’re making a huge stink over a very simple, innocent comment. Do you remember what it was?

“Can we get back to some regular content please?”

Hardly seems like something to fight about. YGG is fine, but this article was out of place (as you’ve admitted, too) and I was simply suggesting we get back to our regularly scheduled program.

So don’t get your panties in a bunch. Move on.

This controversy is nothing out of the ordinary. You should see some of the controversy around James Brausch and his methods. I have often gotten an earful there. In contrast, this is an interesting discussion.

Really, an online pets store. Doesn’t everyone know the famous story of pets.com? Pets.com is considered the epitome of the unnecessary overexpansion into the online realm. What does petecommerce.com have that pets.com didn’t?

@Chandler — We are not a pet supply retail e-commerce company. We are a e-commerce solution (software) company for the pet industry. We do not sell pet supplies.

As far as Pets.com … Its a simple story … They offered FREE shipping on everything, including all of the heavy bags of pet food, and they spent way to much money on marketing. A Super Bowl ad for an internet start-up?? Please….

There are plenty of successful pet supply e-commerce companies online right now - Hey, they must have learned from Pets.com mistakes :)
