Douche Bag — Our first official WordPress plugin

Douche Bag

Most people are nice in person. For some reason, when they have a monitor hiding their face, a few of them act like douchebags. We love the community here and are glad that we don’t have any of these DBs. But when you go popular on certain social bookmarking sites, they seem to arise.

So we created a tool just for those rare instances. It’s a simple and straight forward plugin for WordPress, called Douche Bag.

When you add the tag to the beginning of a comment, our plugin will automatically insert the Douche Bag.

It only takes a minute to install

Add a copy of the Douche image to your server

Place the “douche.png” image within the root directory of your WordPress installation. (ex. /www or /html depending on your server) If you have WordPress installed in a sub-directory, place the image in that main folder.

Add the following code to your theme’s stylesheet:

img.douche {
  	border:none !important;
  	padding:none !important;
	background:none !important;
	float:right;
	margin-left:5px !important;
}

Activate the plugin

Like you would any other in your WordPress admin.

Add the douche code to the beginning of any comment you think deserves the honour, just like so:

How to edit a comment

If your theme doesn’t have an “edit comment” link next to each comment, you can locate the douche worthy remarks in your admin. You’ll find that section at something like: http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php.

That’s it.

This deterrent should help in keeping your blog comments clean and let you have a little fun as well. Instead of letting a douchebag ruin your day, use our little plugin to put them to shame, just like below.
