Would your ego prefer crystal or marble?

Crystal Occasion

This is a paid review

We have the Oscars, Cannes, Clios, Grammy, and hundreds of other award ceremonies that we see each year. For many industries these awards represent the highest level of achievement, and whether you admit or not, can be the primary motivation behind your actions at times.

There’s always been an argument in the ad industry between those that enter hundreds of campaigns into the awards each year and those that ban their agency from entering at all. No matter which side you choose or industry you’re in, there’s no question that having a gold Cannes Lion or Oscar on your bookshelf and resume takes you to a new level.

You may have received a trophy at a spelling bee when you were a kid, or an award at the golf tourney you were in last year. Chances are somewhere in your house or office is a product from a company like Crystal Occasion.

Crystal Occasion is the first company to request a review from us through ReviewMe.

They offer trophies, plaques, wedding gifts, glasses, and many other personalized items that are much classier than your typical branded yo-yo or t-shirt that you’d get at a conference or event. All of which can have your company’s logo or any text you’d like etched into it.

They call them “fine gifts and awards and that’s exactly what they are. Some are made of marble, others crystal, but they’re all high class recognition that I don’t think any of us would mind sitting next to our desks. These aren’t your typical plastic figure coated in fake gold paint trophies.

The awards range from about $40 for the smaller crystal ones up to about $300 for the larger marble ones. The personalized glasses and gifts are quite a bit cheaper at about $30 for a set of custom Flutes for your wedding or $25 for a set of 4 custom Beer Steins for your backyard.

The Crystal Occasion website itself is nice and simple, uses a little AJAX here and there for displaying their catalogue and their integrated store, powered by Yahoo E-commerce, feels safe and secure.

There does seem to be a little alignment issue with their header image when viewing the checkout in Firefox, but that’s the only issue I could find with their website.

If YGG ever reaches the stage where we’d be able to recognize and award the best young go getters out there, Crystal Occasion would definitely be on our shortlist. Now send us some YGG branded beer glasses to use during our podcast, damnit! :)

They’ve got some awesome products - We should run some contests on YGG and shell out some awards.
