One Saturday, my Mom, Maid of Honor and I decided to go look at a boutique in Virginia Beach called Pure English. Helen, the owner, helped in choosing the dresses I would try on and she knew exactly what would look best on my body type. women’s Dresses The first dress I tried on was beautiful. Being so petite, I was afraid of a wedding dress overwhelming me, but it felt as though that dress was made for me. I tried on a few more dresses but always came back to the first one - which I purchased.Our altar was my favorite design element. When Michelle, my wedding planner, showed me a picture with the idea, I fell in love with it instantly. My father and Jason built it from bamboo cut out of our yard. It was draped with natural colored muslin, and adorned with strings of white and pink flowers. My father even saved the muslin material that we were married under, so that one day our children could marry under it too. Directly after the ceremony, guests were entertained at a cocktail reception. Cocktail DressesBefitting the groom’s heritage, guests were served fish & chips wrapped in newsprint. Champagne and wine were served and as a nod to the Southern location, the bride’s signature drink was “swamp water”. Escort cards of larger votive candles with hand calligraphied vellum paper led guests through the fairly forest to the reception in Ruskin Park. A Scottish Bagpiper heralded the arrival of the Bride and Groom to the reception. After Guests were seated and salad was served, waiters arrived with trays holding three plates, each with a different entrée for each guest. The wedding guests dined and danced, not only under the stars, but beneath chandeliers hung from the trees. Entertainment was provided by a string quartet and three separate vocalists who were then followed by a DJ. Bridesmaid DressesAs the reception drew to a close, the bride and groom departed on a scooter to their Seaside honeymoon cottage, followed by a ten day honeymoon in the Southwest.Courtney and Philip were both attending William Woods University on athletic scholarships (his soccer, hers equestrian) when they spotted each other across the campus. Sparks flew and the rest, as they say, is history. Two years later, on May 12, 2007 Courtney Withers Miller of Seaside, FL and Philip Peter Stubley of Leeds, England were joined in marriage before 200 invited guests from three continents and six countries. The Bride’s father, who is the minister of the Seaside Chapel, walked her down the aisle and then resided over the ceremony.Designer Dresses
