Internet & Tech: We've got a new look coming

We're going to further push our exclusive elements, cut back on the crap on the front page, do some fancy SEO leg work, and drive home what makes Rogue Connect unique.
How? Well with a new design of course :lol: The current one just isn't working. It's a bit too cluttered. A bit too ineffective. A bit too Web 0.9 :twisted:
So here's a sneak preview of where we're heading. It's implemented into the browser, but the content is (obviously) rough;

Looks better so far! I can't wait to see it.

Cheers Eric :)

I MUCH prefer it over the current look. You're right, it needs to be slimmed down a bit to be more trendy.

I'm current working on slimming down each and every page, making sure there are less clicks. Or that things that are infrequently used only appear when called upon (we're using scriptaculous to do this, awesome tool!).
The biggest change will be the profiles. The majority of the content will appear at once, where as the current incarnation has additional navigation (Introduction | Tags | In Detail | Looking For | Little Black Book). Where there's too much to present, people will get a summary. Bar for the design itself, it's the profiles I'm putting the most amount of effort into.

And after quite a few weeks hard work, the new site design is up!!
There are a lot of changes. The most obvious are graphical, but we've done a lot of little tweaks here and there to improve efficiency, increase revenue, or to extend the usefulness of features.

It looks 10x better! NICE WORK!

Thanks Eric, most appreciated :) Still a lot of things to tweak, but with each update it's getting easier to improve the site.

I really like it. It's definitely a huge step up from the previous version. I can't recall ever seeing such a dark theme, which I think really differentiates you from the thousands of competitors out there. And a huge plus for tying in some AJAX with the login script. Very cool.
The one thing I'm still waiting for is a script that knows whether or not I've voted for a members admission. Just so I can't vote over and over. And maybe they're taken out of the running, on my end, so once I vote I won't see them again. I think you mentioned in earlier threads that you were working on something for that. Will that be rolled out in the near future?

At the risk of divulging secrets, yes it will be jimmiejo :D It'll register whether or not you've voted, you'll see a little bar graph of how the voting is going, you'll be able to leave a comment ("I'm not voting on you till you've filled out more"), that will be anonymous. A few little things like that.
We've decided to work on no new features for a month or so, but only work to refine and drive home the ones we already have :)
So if anything else is bugging you, please let me know :)
