I was just listening to a great podcast (http://www.thepodcastcenter.com/bsl/BSL-2005-10-10.mp3) and a very powerful quote was said about half way through. Here's my broken reiteration of it:

"It's much easier to put a puzzle together if you know what the final puzzle looks like."

    Wowwwwww.

There's a little method that I use and try to share with everyone I can, and I'll add it to the first quote.

Most people spend their careers trying to find solutions to their customer's problems. The key is trying to find the right problems first. Invest enough time on each project asking as many questions as you possibly can until you finally ask the question that nobody has ever asked.

The reason most businesses fail is because they reach into the couch everyday and continuously try to find something. Successful businesses ask questions before they reach into the couch. They know that they're looking for a remote control. It's much easier to find something if you know what you're looking for.
