Hey Everyone,
Last year I registered the domain bodyandsoul.ca
I would like to develop a community site, but I'm still working on what niche I want to target.
Is there anyone interested in developing this with me, or any ideas on what topics the site can cover?

What type of community site? Just a forum or something like MySpace?
I think with a domain like bodyandsoul.ca you should gear it towards health nuts, sorta like wannabebig.com, but with a more yoga-lifestyle approach perhaps.
Speaking of which, did you hear about Intermix Media, the company that owns MySpace, getting bought out by News Corp, the company that owns Fox? $580 million.

I read that news on your blog actually. :D I've subsequently seen it in several news stories relating to FOX and the Murdoch family.
I'm looking to create a forum, still trying to find a topic though.
I really havn't though about this too much, but the domain itself gets quite a bit of traffic even with no site, and I though this thread might get the brainstorming started. :)

Body and Soul can be taken a few different ways -- i would suggest figure out what search terms, etc. bring in the most traffic and then go from there.

As far as I can tell, most dont come from search engines. It's all typing the URL into their browser.

Really...I would have never thought that - but I guess it depends on the domain name.

That's probably a bad thing because you probably aren't ranked well with the search engines. Have you tried searching for keywords in your indusry and looking for your name? There are some great programs to see your search rank from many different search engines at once.
For community topics, definately go for a niche. Make sure there isn't already a strong community established aswell. New products coming out, like say a Dell PDA line, always make good forums. YOu have to anticipate the product launch and have the forum ready fast though. The Dell Axim forum that is privately run has thousands of users, even though you would'nt expect such a following for a product forum.

I could see it either dealing with health or with spirituality/religion.

Both have serious potential - if I was you i'd lean more towards health unless you're a very spiritual person yourself.

Spirituality and self improvement are the hot topics right now.
Bodyandsoul fits right in line with those topics.

I agree - I'd hop to it and get it going while the market is on fire.
