Off-Topic: Anyone watching the VMA's?

I'm speechless. Britney's opening performance was unreal. She was tripping all over and looked like a total drunk. Alicia Keys appeared the same. The audio is way off and it's totally uncoordinated.
I swear it seems that everyone is so drunk or coked out that they can't even function.
Let's not even get started on the platform they went with, it's atrocious. What a disgrace to pop culture.

I had to turn it off. It's f'n ridiculous. Fantastic message they're sending. Tonight I mourn for the worlds youth.

I'm kind of speechless from her "performance" and Perez Hilton's reaction:

I can understand that his whole online persona is the "nasty bitch", but there are instances like these where he should choose his words carefully. I don't think there's any question that Britney and/or her reps will read that post, and knowing that, Perez should have considered the fact that he's talking about another human. Her performance sucked, yes, so write that. But the nasty personal attacks are far from professional.
In regards to Britney, I agree, she's sending the worst possible message to one of the most easily influencable generations. Pop culture like her has greatly affected how youth dress, walk, and talk. She and Perez have a lot more growing up to do.

Worst VMAs evar!!! The thing was just put together horribly. Why Britney didn't pull out all stops to show the world that she still has it... I dunno. :(
The only decent performance was from Chris Brown. I didn't like how they did the other performances in the clubs, instead of on stage. bleh.

I don't watch awards show so I didn't get to see it but I did wake up this morning to some tv show (i forget which) poking fun at Britney and her lacklustre performance. Even I can concluded it looked pretty bad and I'm fairly forgiving when it comes to that stuff.
I saw the perez hilton post and there were actually 4000 comments with people agreeing to what he said. Yes, it was unprofessional but the worst part of it all is that he's obviously catering to an audience that accepts and encourages that sort of crassness.
I'm with Eric on this one, I too mourn for our youth.

Did you read about the speculation as to why she wasn't into it and didn't care?
I guess Silverman was told by MTV NOT to make fun of Britney's kids but she did anyway. Britney heard her rehearsing her lines right before she hit the stage and was PISSED. They were also planning something involving Criss Angel but the Palms couldn't cover the insurance (or something like that). Apparently she was crying and all that. That's pretty messed up if it's true, but again it's just the gist I got after viewing a ton of articles online.
In any case, I think Silverman's comments were very out of line and Perez is just a *language alert* cocksucker (literally and figuratively).

All of it's hearsay.
In the end, Britney portrayed herself as the complete opposite of a dedicated musician.

I can't help but feel sorry for her I guess...

No need for sympathy. Just a demand for more. Not more of her, but more art from artists.
Pro Tools isn't good enough nowadays. How can these labels push the same songs about partying, drinking, name-dropping, and rims? It's the same shit over and over.
The hippie spin is played everytime you mention the 60s or 70s, but explore that generation's music. It was incredible. Some of the most empowering and conceptual tracks came from that period.
We'll never have another Hendrix or Lennon, but there are still plenty of smaller and older artists that should be in the spotlight.
I thought we killed the trend-whore factor when the Backstreet Boys and N-Sync got flushed down the drain.

This is why I listen to House/Trance/Techno. I create my own insights with the progression of the music and I can twist it to fit my mood. It gets my blood pumping and I don't have to deal with ignorant
lyricswords. In that case, ProTools does me just fine :)

Yeah Britney's performance was very disappointing. As was mentioned above, Chris Brown made the show much better. His performance was pretty cool I thought. I also liked some of the stuff that Timbaland did, especially the little live beat making session which transitioned into Linkin Park. I thought it was also great that Justin Timberlake said MTV should stop doing the reality crap and play more videos right after the girls from The Hill were on stage.
Eric - I'm seeing Tiesto this Saturday, should be pretty cool!

Lol, I'm just a sucker for Timbaland beats I guess...plus I'm a big fan of Linkin Park.
Hopefully I'll catch him in time, my buddy got a VIP couch at Club Love in DC where he'll be playing. The only problem is he's done at 11:30...so I'll try and get there early and get some pics and what not. If I get anything good, I'll definitely put up a blog post about it.
Have you ever heard of Ferry Corsten? He's playing the rest of the night after Tiesto. The name sounds familiar, but not sure if he's any good.
