Yeah, cosmetic amputation is one of those things you don't really see too much of, but when you do, you let out a big 'WTF?'.
One of my old skater buddies wanted to have his ears amputated because he thought it would match this crazy lizard tattoo pattern he wanted on his head. We all talked him out of it, though, thank goodness.
Some people actually have severe mental disorders that can't be cured unless they have a leg or an arm removed. They actually felt trapped in their bodies and tortured by the fact that they had legs or arms. I read a few stories about cases like this years ago. I should poke around, find'em and post them here. Very interesting reads.

How did you start that conversation? Hey do you ever feel like I should have your arm? Yeah I do that's weird I thought I was the only one thinking that. Well lets cut it off and sew it on me. Ok.

@Wilhelm: Yea there was a thing about that on the Discovery channel. Those that do get the limb(s) amputated ... later on regret it and realize they were mental.
