Internet & Tech: Digg Clones

I have an idea for a music site that would run off Pligg (open course CMS digg style). I've been a fan of some digg clones but I wanted to get the opinion of some other. What do you think about sites that use the Digg system to show content?

There's quite a few of these for music already actually, one of them was mentioned on TechCrunch not too long ago, already in VC stages. Do some looking into that first to be safe.

It depends on the content, and if you really want the crowd to be the editor.
I find that most sites don't want the crowd to be the editor, so Digg or Pligg doesn't make sense as a CMS.
Where you're trying to get news out faster the Digg approach works as there are many hands to help move things along, but if you prefer quality rather than the speed, having Wordpress with a few trusted authors/editors might make more sense.

i actually think a music-focused digg is a good idea; although i'm not certain if it's been done. there are a lot of people interested in finding new, currently underground music. the challenge with a music-focused digg though is speed of digging.
for instance, say i'm browsing digg and i see a headline, "Top 10 Grammar Mistakes That Make You Look Stupid!" i click the link, skim the list, like what i see, and digg. all within about 15 seconds. but to listen to a song, you're talking 3-4 minutes. that's a significant amount of time. maybe offering more incentive to the originally digger would help.

It definitely HAS been done. Many times over.

I would be doing it specifically with Indie Music. I'm tossing up the idea of either a blog with a few people writing, or a digg style site. Ive looked into indie music sites and they are all the same with CD reviews, tickets and what not.
Tear my idea apart.
