I use NetNewsWire and Socialist on Mac - I can't decide which I like better yet. Socialist has better del.ico.us capabilities for saving good posts, but NetNewsWire seems to have a more news-like interface and accomodates more RSS feeds easier.

I like NetNewsWire, the developer is great and the software is very nice. For cross platform usage, many people tend towards Google Reader/

I like google reader just because I don't have to go anywhere else to get my rss. I use gmail all day so it's convenient.

I am a fan of Google Reader as well. Its easy and simple to use and allows for some decent customization (placing different sites into folders of related content, etc). Depending on the features that you are looking for your reader to have, there may be better options out there...I just havent explored them.

I made the switch from Google Reader to FeedDemon about 6 months ago and haven't looked back.

If you don't need to access your feeds from multiple locations and are cool with a desktop based app, FeedDemon is the way to go.

I export an updated opml of my feeds every now and then and upload it to Google Reader as a backup if I need to access my feeds while on location or vacation.

I'm liking the trial so far, and its integration with digg and del.icio.us is great

I only started using a Feed Reader 2 months ago and I went straight for Google Reader. I had dipped my toes with Bloglines before that but didn't like it.

Google Reader is great for cross-platform, anywhere you want type of RSS Reader, but I so far havn't used it with Digg or Del.Icio.Us, mainly because I dont go on those sites much anyway. If you want something simple and practical - then I'd say go for Google.

In the past I used Feed Reader. I really liked it, except it wouldn't go between computers. Google Reader fits the bill for me now.

I've been using Bloglines forever and it is great. I used Google Reader at launch and it didn't suit my reading style - but that might have changed now. You might want to give it a try as an alternate online reader.

I usually read through the headlines in Bloglines and then if anything looks good I'll cmd+click it to open in a new tab. That way I get the original styles of the website which is nice, and can read any comments.

Keep in mind that wherever you go you'll be able to import/export an opml file with everything.
