I know this is probably a ps3/xbox360 forum but I'm gonna rant about the wii again.

Does anyone else think there is some huge potential for the thing? It's got wifi and you can code custom flash stuff to make use of the controller.

I just found FineTune which is a last.fm variant with a wii interface.

Everyone has been talking about mobile phone browsing, what about the wii?

I think the Wii is great. I don't own one, but they're awesome so please rant away.

I think it's got a ton of potential. Have you seen it's latest sales figures!? Staggering!

I played the bowling game on a friend's Wii a few weekends ago and picked it up by the second frame. Ridiculously easy to pick up. Fantastic job by Nintendo.

I hear even Retirees are enjoying the Wii at retirement homes. They can bowl and play tennis from their wheelchairs.

I love my Wii and think it's cool that third party apps can be used seamlessly. Since it's already attached to the tv, I could see it supplanting AppleTV and any other Microsoft based device as the way to stream networked data to the tv.

Apparently it is - you have to convert a file to MJPEG format (which makes compressed files larger). See the details here:

    http://www.siliconera.com/index.php/2006/12/11/how-to-encode-divx-movies-to-play-on-your-wii/

Apparently it's not the most convenient (you can only do it off an SD card) - maybe Nintendo will rectify that with a firmware upgrade in the future or a new Wii Channel.

It sounds like it is better going the flash route for watching tv, as this guy twittered.

Personalised tv is a cool idea, and something that I know microsoft are working on. Can a mashup beat them to launch? Anybody know how to do it with whats out there?
