I’m looking for another host, for my sites that are not Australian.
I’m wondering who you guys are with cause im sure you guys have shopped around for a good deal.I’m looking a reseller account with about 5gb space and 50gb bandwidth with 20+ domains/accounts, WHM, cpanel.
If you guys can recommend anyone, that would be great.
Thanks all

I'm happily at A Small Orange right now.
I have been around to a couple of hosts over the past few years, and as a person with clients like you Jam surely you know the pain of having a client call you saying "why isn't my site working?". True, 90% of the time they have a local problem, but the other 10% when it is your webhost is Very Bad™.
ASO have cPanel (with the reseller WHM for $5/mo extra on any plan - great for people with a bunch of domains) and I haven't had any uptime issues since I have been there.
If you look at their plans they aren't comparable to Dreamhost or a lot of the others because they don't massively oversell. Obviously if you need raw data go for somewhere else, but there is one reason why ASO is miles above the rest...
Customer support! Remember that thing? If you are in the world of shared hosting you probably haven't come across it yet. I've sent quite a number of support tickets in during the migration process (~40 sites) and also just a couple of quick questions and seriously if you don't get a response within 20 minutes you better get worried. I've even had 5 minute responses..
Yes this is on shared hosting.
Client questions about downtime Very Bad™? With a 20 minute response you don't have to worry about this anymore.
Check out A Small Orange, and if they ask you tell them thrivehosting.com sent you ;)

The only host that I have seen that is comparable to ASO for my needs would be Mosso.
$100/mo for 80GB space, but the real kicker is that they can also take care of YOUR CUSTOMERS tech (phone) support and billing.
They are on a Rackspace cluster system which sounds on their marketing pages and other customer reviews I have read to be very good.
Why aren't I with them? It's not Australian phone support and billing :)

I'm very tempted for going with MediaTemple, but just not sure on there WebControl Panel and what it is like for hosting clients on, someone care to give me a few details on what’s the backend is like for hosting client’s websites with different login details etc.
ASO look great, if nothing else comes up in the next month I’m sure to sign up with them, thanks Ross

I didn't go with mediatemple's gridserver in the end because unlike cpanel you can't (from what i know) segment the plan into sub-accounts to hand out to clients. There have also been some downtime issues that have come up - comparison posts about gs and mosso had mosso come out on top.
I used to have a couple of clients under my single account at Textdrive (sent them a ticket the other day without a reply for 24 hours... no wonder I don't host stuff there now) and there is just no comparison to how well you can segment things in cpanel/whm.
There are positives and negatives. If a client breaks something after you give them access they generally expect you to fix it free of charge - so I warn them in advance that there will be 'fixupyourfuckup' charges if they break things. But at the other end of the spectrum they do love to have full access, even if they don't use it other than for stats.
Does it sound like I did my research yet?

Media Temple's admin is the best available. Its a million times easier on the eyes and to use than cpanel or whm.
I spoke to a rep there last week and yes, he admitted that they have had the occasional issue with their grid-servers but are working them out as they go. He said they're the first company to offer such hosting.
Ross, I believe you can easily setup sub-accounts for clients. You can host up to 100 sites with their grid-server. But talk to Eric, he can confirm or deny that.
I'm going with their Dedicated-Virtual server for the e-commerce store I'm developing for one of my clients. At some point in the next couple months I'll be moving all of my sites to a Dedicated-Virtual with them as well.

Damn. Media Temple is $20/month? That's pretty damn cheap for (my perception) such quality hosting.

(mt) is what I just switched all of my sites over to. It's true that you can't sub out your "control panel" for clients, but for me that's almost a blessing because they can really screw some stuff up in there and create more headache for you. It's nice to be in control :)
You can get a (dv) (dedicated virtual) server from them for $50/mo. which allows you to do that, but it's not as robust as even the grid server.
So far I'm happy. They have 24/7/365 support via phone and for me that's priceless. I was with ResellerZoom before and they are absolutely terrible. Only chat/helpdesk support with them, no phone. That's very frustrating and it can make you feel trapped. I am going to do a write up on them and post it to the blog about the shitty service they provide, so definitely stay away from them.
Buy an MT account and see how you like it on the back end. If you do, perhaps do the switch, if you don't, they have a money back guarantee. They do have some coupons online that will give you 15% off your monthly cost for the span of your time with them. Give it a Google.

I'm still with Reseller Zoom, for now, and can vouch on that horrible service. Any host that provides 24/7/365 telephone support gets a thumbs up from me. Unfortunately, RZ doesn't provide anything near that.

They're awful. Plain and simple.

Don't use Network Solutions. They have 24/7 customer services but it's horrible so you might as well not have it.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to go on a cluster-based server. But being able to separate out client accounts and have good tech support is invaluable.
If it was just ME and my domains - I'd be on a cluster in a blink :)

this got me thinking that I should switch my stuff over to them. I have a few plans on a few sites right now paying a total of about $20/mo. And in October uploadFX's plan is up over at NetFirms (awkward setup), but came with the purchase, so I might as well switch them all to one plan, one payment, one site.

Keep scaling in mind... I've had to upgrade my (mt) server 3 times and am now looking into moving to a fully dedicated server. Have a good idea of the traffic you expect and have the ability to scale to it... with that being said... have the appropriate server size for your company.
If you plan on having 20 customers hosted in 6 months, but only have 1 now... get the 20 customer hosting plan in 6 months when you actually need it. I see too may people with Ferrari web-servers still living at home with their mother. (not that living at home with mom is a bad thing.)

Hey,
I run my own servers (I got fed up with my first host, Digiweb, in 1999) so I can help anyone here with hosting if you still need it. My clients right now who use Think for hosting include Harvard, Tufts, and one company on the NYSE. I'd be happy to give anyone from YGG a discount, as well.
