    Hey Guys.

I've seen a load of partnerships going up here recently so I thought Id give mine a shot.

Anyway a few months ago 3 of us from YE.com forums started our own golf forums - one of them hooked us up with an amazing custom made skin for PHPBB. Anyway we all made our share of posts but recently none of us have been bothered to do anything.

Both the other guys can't be bothered with the site anymore but I still want to carry on with the site:

    The site:ChipandChat.com.

Questions: Do you think this site is worth investing time into? Most other golf forums have crappy skins BUT they have great communities - could this be replicated?

Also, would anyone be interested in partnering up with me as I don't have the time/motivation to do this on my own and besides, PHPBB spam really takes it out of you!

    Critics and opinions please!

I see you have 295 registered users. Are they all legit or did some spam registrations pop in there? Try to make a call for help to the members of the forum. Send a mass email out to them letting them know you are looking for new moderators to step up and help run the community. Perhaps offer a prize for the the first person that reaches a certain number of posts. It looks like you are the one with the most posts and then only a couple others that have over 10. Perhaps offer a prize for the first person to reach 50 posts? 100 posts?

Chris has got some great ideas. I would recommend also going to your existing members to look for support. If you find a moderator you will probably be able to run the site yourself.

If not try and steal someone from one of the other forums.

Where are you looking to take the forum? What are your goals? What else could it become?

    Thanks for your comments guys:

Chris and letutor: 290 out of the 295 registrations are spam - no jokes. The only posting members on the site were me and my 2 partners but that dried up pretty quick. I would offer prizes, but there's no1 to participate!

Travis: I'm looking to build a place where I can talk but more importantly own a place where people can fuel their excitement for the sport and where I know I can talk to some great people about golf. My goals would be to create a community of regular posting members and at the same time monetize the site efficiently. I would also like to have a memberbase where I could launch future golf related products (like GolfChum).

It could turn into a Golf Portal with links to Multimedia but who knows. Maybe it could focus on the youth side of the game instead of at adults? Anyway what do you guys think are my options?

I think that you should maybe contact some local golf courses and see if they would let you place flyers in there pro shop or hand them out one day to people that come to the driving range.

If they hesitate offer to place a free ad on your site for their course.

That could get some traffic and maybe find somebody that would be interested in helping out. I wouldn't bring up the helping out part about your site until you get to know some of them but you could get some traffic and then from those members find someone who is interested in being a moderator.

Good idea letutor. I am a member of a golf club but its mostly old ladies that go there - and they're probably not even connected to the net.

But there is a driving range 15 minutes away that always has youths buzzing around and Im sure they could do with a bit more promotion. I'll try and get onto that asap.

Apart from that, do you have any ideas as to how I could build it up online?

I think the real thing for you is promoting your site offline to drive online traffic.

I'm sure if you look them up there are quite a few ranges or courses withing a 30 mile radius.

If their aren't give some of the golf stores in the area, and the pro shops of other golf courses that maybe be further away. Ask them if you can mail some flyers to them.

You might also want to try and buy some cheap advertising on some other golf related websites.

write articles and submit them to all of the artilce directories. That should give you some strong backlinks and will help people to find your site organically. Don't forget to post those same articles on your site and submit them to bookmarking sites. Again more backlinks and a little bit of traffic. Use www.onlywire.com which will submit them to about 20 sites and then for the bigg ones like www.digg.com and www.del.iou.us you'll have to do manually.
