After Travis posted the great entry about boosting traffic by submitting your sites to CSS galleries.

Are there any other ways that you've found to boost traffic by: search engine results or referrals.

One way that I've found that helps increase my natural traffic is to write about current events, well known or researched names like Best Buy or George Bush, and also writing content that answers questions that people search for when learning about the subjects your write about.

These three subjects bring in additional search engine traffic or from bookmarking and news aggregate sites.

    1. Current Events
    2. Well known names and brands
    3. Answers to questions that readers may ask about the subjects you comment on. Readers when looking for an answer often just type in the question and then sift through the results to find their answer.

I've recently tried the submitting to directory route, which has helped a little bit, but not a ton.

Comment on other influential blogs, send trackbacks, etc.

If you don't have a general blog that can talk about current events that are unrelated, the current events part is near impossible.

I know a lot of people say that posting regularly helps, but it actually does.

Whenever I do a post, my traffic increases quite a bit, and if I continue to post every day, the traffic keeps going up and up - the same happens with RSS subscribers. Inevitably Im unable to post everyday, and so the traffic levels go back down, but still keep posting to your blog as much as poss and you'll be surprised how quickly traffic can build up.

    Kmulligan,

You can try and use google news to find happenings in your field that the news has covered and you can give your commentary.

There is always news about the subjects you write about. Just use Google news or other news aggregators to find them. For example I write about foreign languages and there isn't much in terms of news but their are always a few things that I can use for article topics.

    Adnan,

I've read on other blogs that one solution to posting everyday is to take one day and write several days worth of posts so that you can just post the articles you've already written and not feel burned out by having to write everyday.

Yeah that's something which I keep meaning to do.

I definitely do experience days when productivity is real high, and I should take advantage of that more - even if it means writing loads of smaller posts.
