General Business: Put in my 2 weeks and will soon be a Full Time Entrepreneur

Alright guys I just got back from the cubicle of my manager and told him that I was putting in my 2 weeks.
I've been wanting to do this for a very long time. My current business is starting to really take off and the level of customer service I've been providing has suffered because of my lack of time and focus.
I'm extremely excited but also nervous. I'm giving up that extra income needed to pay bills. I've got enough saved to supplement for a couple of months but I've got to hustle in order to start making more money.
if anyone has any experience at this please chime in.

Way to go man! Get on the grind baby!

Way to stick it to the man. Nice move on saving some cash and having a stream of income before you dove in. I've seen many of people fail because they think they have the next big idea, and 3 months in they have no money to eat.
Best of luck with it!

If you have experience at this but it's a horror story don't chime in. I only want to hear rainbows and sunshine stories.

I did the same thing before, gave up a really high paying job to be able to pursue my own ventures, and I survived.
Best advice I can give you, work your ass off. Put in as many hours as needed to ensure that you at least meet what you were making in your job. From there, work on automating processes so you can focus on expanding and rolling back the amount of hours you have to work.
-
Travis,
It seems you are always right on. That's actually what i'm doing now. I'm creating an automated backend to my biz so that I can focus more on customer experience and marketing. Those take a lot less time then admin crap.
I guess this is also really good motivation to get over my focusing problems so that I can really get my grind on.

There's nothing better than pressure to get your ass in gear. If you know that you have to hit a certain number or else you'll lose something, or it'll drastically change your life, you're going to work harder, smarter, and faster than you ever did before.
Carrying over from our other thread, write down what you need to get done on a larger scale over the next couple months, and when you complete each of those milestones, tear them up and get started on the next one.
I've always said, it's much easier to find something if you know what you're looking for.
-
Man I did the same thing years ago and it's the best thing I ever did. I haven't looked back since. Times can get rough but you always find a way, and it keeps that fire inside you alive - whereas when you're working the 9-5 you're stiffled, and it kills your spirit.
-
I know working here does really kill my spirit. You feel like a brain dead robot sometimes.
I've got a hilarious story but I won't post it here. I'll send you an IM
-
Congrats man! Looking forward to hearing about your adventure.
-
Just put the resignation letter on my managers desk.
2 more weeks of hell then I'm free.
-
Try to leave on a good note. Don't leave like this. Your boss or co-workers may be invaluable contacts down the road.
-
No I always leave on a good note. Never know when you'll need that old contact for something.
-
However I may leave them an upper deck just for fun.

I've heard this called a "Top Shelf"...you got my morning fix of laughing in.

Hey friday is my last day, I know how you feel!!!!
I took a big regional sales manager job with a high end furnature retailer. I will be he boss of this city now. I am really looking forward to it.
I would like to be a full-time entrepreneur but with a baby on the way I gotta have soemthing stable while I build it up.
Anyways congrats man!!!!
-
Justin,
I know how you feel. Luckily it's just me and the wife right now. Congrats on having a baby soon.
That's my only real concern. I saved up some money and if we make it through the first couple of months we'll be more than fine.
-
now that I know I'm quitting it is so hard to go to work and be a "good employee". I just sit and stare at my computer screen.
-
Same thing for me. You tend to be a clock watcher, and you don't fit in with everyone that is trying to progress the comapny beacuse you don't have the same views.
It's kind of akward...
