I stopped my compulsive checking of my adsense account for about a week and checked it this morning. Up to $9.41 in less than a month. It's paying for itself to be hosted with about a buck in profit. So at $0.43 a day I'll be a millionaire in no time (appx 6371 years...which doesnt take into acount the growth rate of ductfuct.)

UPDATE - I am back to compulsively checking my ad revenues. I've added adengage ads too. I'll be updating the threads title as the total goes up.

Haha, never thought of it in terms of quantity. That'd be just over $78k a year!

But in reality I am pretty happy with the results thus far. Now if I could only get the damn MSN adCenter $200 free thing to work I am sure I could drive enough traffic to send me over $15.

My Adsense on The Ad Feed dipped big time in payouts over the past couple of weeks. It's been back up the past few days. It's usually anywhere from $0.75 to $2.00 per click, but I had a string of 20 or so clicks that were only paying $0.05 or $0.15 a click.

A handfull more clicks and I'll hit the $100 marker, then have to wait over a month to get the cheque. Stop being stubborn Google and pay with PayPal!!!!! ; )

This got me thinking...is there a website that is just ads? I'm thinking I could score some money writing up a short tutorial and a goal (like say $10k or so) geared at how to make money from ads. Then the rest of my site would basically be an example for people to follow. Not that I would be encouraging people to click my ads but lets say they did, and there would be basically tons of them, I could make a decent push from it.

Then again, I am not sure if you can run google, yahoo, adbrite, etc all on the same page. Who knows...I'll look into it.

You could be running into some TOS issues by creating an ad site. If you don't have any content or you encourage people to click in any way, Google, Yahoo, etc... won't approve your site.

Take the How to Make $10,000 with Adsense topic and see if you can make it work for yourself. Document that process as you go and it could be an interesting blog.

Thats what I was thinking. Not a site solely filled with ads. There'd be no reason for someone to visit the site. But I think I will use the $10k concept and blog my progress.

I wont encourage clicking...I know that's against policy. But I can beat around the bush enough I think to where people will understand that I wont reach the goal otherwise. I'll have to be careful with the wording of my content.

One of the lessons I've learned is don't put all your eggs in one basket. To hit that $10,000 marker look to networks where you can guarantee yourself a progressive income. WIth BlogAds, Adbrite, Text Link Ads, etc... you set the amount you charge per ad. You'll start off only making a few dozen bucks per month, but chances are that'll be much more than Adsense would bring you.

-The website does not have enough link popularity.
-The website does not have enough traffic.
-The website is currently selling text link ads.

I assume they dont want adsense running. So I guess I'll wait until I get my $100 check from google and then go with TLA? I wonder if I can use google image ads and then TLA?

There isn't an issue when it comes to running Adsense and TLA. You're allowed to run both simultaneously.

The TLA approval is based upon your Bloglines ranking, Alexa Rank, Technorati rank, the amount of inbound links pulled from Technorati, and the amount of pages the ads will appear on.

It can be pretty tough to get in, especially if you're a new site. Work on building the amount of pages and backlinks and just keep applying.

At some point I'll try and get in for a few my sites.

If you're able to build a substantial amount of backlinks in the next month or so don't hesitate to reapply earlier than the three month marker. These are two crucial factors about your site:

The amount of Live Search links back to you.(9 links)

The amount of blogs that mention your site on Technorati.(1 link from 1 blog)

To get accepted into TLA you'll have to get at least a thousand links back to you at Live Search and at least 50 mentions in Technorati. If you haven't signed up at Technorati and claimed that blog, do so now so it tracks your posts and you can work on your rank. It's a matter of taking their code and inserting it at the bottom of one of your posts to confirm you own it.

To build your technorati rank get other sites to add you to their blogroll and mention you in posts. Trackbacks and commenting also help, even though trackbacks might not be right for your blog.

For the ads, adbrite rotates between text and image ads, we can't choose one or the other. The image ads pay on a cpm basis while the text ads are cpc.

Something I found helpful in getting return links was simply mentioning someone else site in my blog and when they noticed the link or traffic from it they often times reciprocated without me asking. Also, they would then mention my blog as a point of interest in their blog.

Yes, but I thought they were weekly ads for TLA.

And as for the RON ads, this is what adengage says:
"Run of Network Ads circulate through the AdEngage network until the ads receive a desired amount of clicks. "...not sure thats really what I am looking for, but at least I have the choice to put ads out there for cheap and guarantee a certain amount of traffic. Nice concept.

Anyhow, two revenue generating ads running on ductfuct.com now, adsense is winning by $17.58 because I just started adengage and have zero clicks. Currently picking out my theme for adcabulary.com which I will hopefully have at least hosted and a bare site by the weekend. Then we'll see which ad company wins.

I like the looks of that Adengage network. Legitimizing contextual image/text combo ads will be the way of 2007. Google just officially banned it with Adsense so the other networks will jump all over that opportunity, much like Adengage has.

Doesn't look like the ads are too relevant, but if that improves as their inventory grows it could be a nice alternative to Google and Adbrite.

Adengage just uses a "pool" of ads in their network. It doesnt rely on the relevance factor like adsense does, kinda. You can however, pick which categories to choose to have in your "pool."

Not sure what adenages payouts look like yet because there arent any clicks. But you dont have to wait til you get up to $100. Adengage has a $20 min.

Letutor thats exactly what happens. And sometimes if you're lucky some big players host the carnivals so the quality of the link is so much better!

For those who were wondering this is a quote from an email convo that I had with Patrick Gavin (founder of TLA). My question was:

In the inventory my ad sells for $20 - that means I should be getting $10. Why have I only made $7 (all figures are examples):

    1. There are times when agencies resell TLA inventory at a discount and that could bring down the retail price of the links and thus the rev share.

    2. the earnings listed are always pro rated for the month so if we sold a link on the 14th of the month only two weeks of earnings will show up.

    Hope this helps.

It's really tough to convert those one line link units. You only get payed if they click on an ad after clicking on one of the text links in that type of unit. An extra step that can hurt you in the end.

You're allowed to have up to 3 standard ad units per page. I'd say replace it with a 728x90 leaderboard. At least then, if you get some accidental clicks they'll pay out immediately, instead of them having to click again like with the link units.

My adengage total went down $00.04...that's a new one!

My adsense went up the same amount, so no change. But seriously, what's with the decrease? I'm done with AE. They can keep my, what was $00.19, what is now $00.15.

Comments are worth their weight (well if they weighed anything) in gold. I'd trade a couple ad clicks a day for a couple comments any time.

SSM - amen. I sent her an e-mail asking her what she thought of the site, etc and she gave some good feedback. Plan to do that with every comment until there are so many we can't keep up!

Comments and e-mails make all this web bru-ha-ha worth the time invested. Getting a positive message from a stranger is the easiest way to have your day made.

Yep, I update the title quite often. In fact, I did it again! 2007 has been good to my adsense growth thus far. I made $12 in December and already $20+ so far in January. This has managed to shape a goal to double my adsense earnings every month.

BTW- I've stopped updating the earnings made by AdEngage because they were pennies per click. I think 10 or so clicks netted me $.19. Which is a downer because their "photext" ads are a great option, but they are too small of a player at this stage.

I have started to take into account the Commission Junction affiliate program into the total.

I had my second biggest adsense earnings day yesterday at $3.18, biggest is $3.75. Yesterday was also my highest Ad Impressions at 219.

the.ad.blog got some clicks yesterday which was real nice. uploadFX is always good for about a $1/day.

So is AdSense Deluxe the way to go?

I have it running on the.ad.blog, and it is convenient and I like the way it integrates with the page. However, it isn't paying out a ton because the traffic is still low. I'd have to have hundreds if not thousands of visits a day to be able to accurately determine if it is better than the "adsense templates" that some ppl run. Which IMO look terrible.

Cracked the $50 mark!...barely. Somebody from YE has been clicking on my thereservoirblogs.com ads a few times a week. Not sure why, but it pays like dirt considering I haven't done anything with that site in a looooong time. I should take it out of my sig so ppl click on the good ones.

Ugh, ads were paying like bums today. I did about average on clicks but the payout was less than a call on a pay phone costs.

Sounds like you need to target more profitable keywords. You need several full articles that are focused on the keyword subject.

well that's tough on the site that gets the most clicks (uploadFX) because it is just a simple page with basically nothing on it.

Hopefully I'll be getting some better stuff on the.ad.blog soon.

agreed...what if you start a mini blog on it about the progress of the site, the amount of uploads/usage, and other tech related stuff?

I just gained a whopping .01 today... with no clicks. How is that even possible?

Bringing the grand total to $4.54. 9 views today, 0 clicks, earnings $0.01. What the...?

Its probably the CPM. Some ads have pretty high costs per thousand impressions. Maybe with your 9 views you were able to get $0.01 out of it. The same thing happened to me yesterday.

Yup, its CPM ads (image ads). I'll pull $.20 or $.30 every now and then if i don't get many clicks per day, but the rates are piss-all on Google compared to Tribal Fusion, Advertising.com, etc...

Yep same here yesterday. There must have been some high paying CPMs because I made $.04 on zero clicks. I think it's the "Tax Cut" ad for me.

It is the tax cut ad. I made money on only 4 impressions. Wish I had a HUGE trafficed site because that would ad up quickly.
