As I was thinking about that paparazzi magazine I mentioned a week or so ago, I got to thinking about a service you can hire to go out and act as paparazzi for either you or a friend or something on a special occasion (birthday, bachelor party, etc.). They follow you around in vans and snap pictures of you driving, walking around, going to the club, etc. etc. and then you can buy photos.

What do you think? I'd like to brainstorm about this...I think it'd be fun as hell.

That sounds pretty good. Rent-A-Razzi! I think prom kids would love to be followed around like celebs.

I think so too...it'd be great in a tourist town too for visitors that want to go clubbing and appear to be "somebody" - you could get REALLY elaborate with this... I think it's awesome. It could be the basis for a lot of things, ala Internet TV Series, Magazine, etc.

I would watch an Internet TV Series about regular people being followed around and hassled like celebrities.

I think they have this...its commonly referred to as a photographer? How is your service different? I mean, paparazzi obviously sells your private material to tabloids but I dont think I would pay for that.

If you position yourself right, it could happen. Because I dont think many photographers are chasing that type of hyped-up status.

You really got "photographer" from the description I originally left?

Do you have photographers following you around in vans? Chasing you into the club? Flashing lights every time you take a step? Interesting photographer you have...

i think you should do it like people pay for a whole day or whatever and at the end of the day they get like a photo albem of their day.

Exactly my thoughts...This wouldn't be a photographer, this would be an experience. Sitting by a white picket fence with a corny smile is NOT an experience, and that's what a 'photographer' provides.

you should check around to see if there are anyone do this already, and depending on the scale it might require you to hire alot of photographers. That is if they are willing to do it too.

I was mainly saying that a photographer could easily do this with a van. They would already have the camera. There are a few club photographers in Grand Rapids, TwoEaglesMarkus is probably the most know. He goes around, takes pics of ppl at clubs. I'm sure you could hire him to just follow you around.

Believe me, I'm not trying to crap on your idea. If marketed right, it could work and not sound like a photographer in a van

I like this idea. Here's basically what it would be like:

Hey Eric. Eric. Look at the camera. Eric. Eric. How are you Eric? How's your wife Eric? Look Eric. Smile Eric. Eric. Eric. Hey Eric. How do you feel about the war on terror? Eric. Hey Eric. Do you like the colour pink? Eric. Eric. Eric. Hey Eric. Eric. Eric. Eric. Eric.

    :)

I know you're not crapping it, but you're not grasping it, either. I'm thinking a GROUP of people following them, just like a pack of paparazzi, not just one guy snapping photos at an event. You're right, that is a photographer...but a group of people making a big ruckus is much different.

It would a pricey thing but I think it would work great hand-in-hand with a limousine service. There were so many limos at the Chili Peppers concert last month with people hanging out of the windows and sunroofs trying their best to get attention. If a pack of 3 or 4 photographers just happened to be there snapping tons of pictures of them, they'd get what they're after, an ego boost.

You could really charge a premium for something like this...

Definitely, and offer it as a service to limo companies. They get a cut for every papa-package they sell and you don't have to do the sales leg work.

I think this a great idea as long as you market it to the right people and businesses. I think that clubs, concerts, sales events, grand openings, proms, and any other large event would love to have a really cool service like this. It would make their guests and customers feel special.

    - Secondly not everyone would have to be a photographer. They could just be some joe wearing nice clothes, no film just a big flash, and knows how to talk. Then you have 1 or 2 actual photographers who take quality pictures for the album.

    - Actually a great idea for the fill in photographers would be to hire out of work local actors. They would really get in to the character and make seem real. You can post jobs like this on Craigslist and would probably get a really good response.

I would be interested in this venture if it started in phoenix, az

The more I think about it, the more I like it.

I really like the idea of putting the local actors together, you're right - they'd make it feel real. That type of thing would make this service very expensive...but maybe it's better that way, it'll keep it very exclusive.

I don't think that this would make it too expensive. Remember these are wanna be and out of work actors. Essentially you pay them as if they were a fill in a movie which pays nothing unless you have some special skill or unique look they can't find anywhere.

You could probably get people for $60 - $100 a day. Maybe a lot cheaper if you're frugal

I think businesses and clubs would be your main market because they have the funds available to pay the premium needed to operate your service. Then later as you get things you get a system and find ways to cut back on costs you can offer lower end types of packages.

Or you could possibly start with the lower end deals while you work out the kinks and really perfect your system so when you get a big league client you really wow them.

    Decisions Decisions.

You could add a third party video taping the experience, like a reality show feel.

Glancing through the above posts.....the difference is a "photographer" photographers takes photos with the directions and by invite of the "subject". "Paparazzi" photographers aren't usually invited or wanted and take a different style of picture of the "subject".

    GREAT idea!
