I've been looking around for a few cheap websites to work with, mainly to work on marketing and play around with them from a business and technical perspective - ie not expecting any phenomenal roi, although that would be nice. Anyway one that seems interesting is estateflipper.com, which basically is a site with a few articles on flipping houses and an ebook which is sold. Nothing amazing but just something to play with. This is on sitepoint for a min bid of $50 (bin $90) and comes with the site fully integrated and full rights to the ebook (suggested price $29.99 - prob lower that some).
Anyway just wanted to get your thoughts on the site, potential, any reservations, etc. Right now I'm leaning toward buying it.

I just saw an amazing book at the bookstore the other day that would provide some great info to offer those who buy into that site.
It's all worth a shot, if it's affordable to get your hands dirty, GO FOR IT!

Put the min bid in - I'll probably go on and pay the bin if I need to, its not that big of a difference. That book could be interesting - I think if I take the site I'll install wordpress and set up some sort of companion blog on there. Put up book reviews and links to relevant articles - just some new content to keep things fresh. The stuff he has on there now in terms of "free helpful articles" is pretty crappy.

It's mine - now to get down to business...
By the way where would you suggest hosting (yeah I know there's like 20 threads on this) - I had this recommended to me by the guy I bought it from. Looks ok and it's real cheap - would you still pick goDaddy over this?

Being that Miracan leads to a dead page and is just an affiliate link for your seller's account on Host Monster, yeah forget them, go with GoDaddy.

Yeah, godaddy should work. I've got the same hosting credit as SSM too apparently, so that does it.

Ok, it's mine, officially set up, etc.
Right now I plan to:
- Set up a wordpress blog to go with it (add content/value, build reader base, etc.) The blog will basically be an assortment of interesting real estate articles, stats, etc. or the occasional commentary.
- Start playing with adwords. I got a $25 credit from goDaddy when I bought my hosting, so really there's nothing to lose.
- Generally clean up the site some. I like it but it is sloppy in a few areas and the "articles" on there now are pretty crappy. I'm going to try to do the technical things myself but will find help if I need it.
- Check around for similar sites. The same seller put an identical site with the same ebook up on site point today (www.mypropertyflip.com). The identical site is fine but I explicitly asked if I received ownership rights to the ebook before buying and was told I did. If the other site remains up I'll contact the owner and ask for a licensing fee or get the ebook taken down. -
