If that is on a business card, the font on the bottom must be size -1...or is that a flyer?Win $5 at DuctFuct.com.

Hi there, I've just signed up to this inspiring site after lurking about on here for a few weeks. I can honestly say that this site has been responsible for kicking me into gear with my entrepreneurial venture.

So while I don't have a business card to show off, I have as good as -- my newly updated website:
    www.dickealy.co.nz

Actually I'd be stoked if a mac user out there could verify that the website looks fine in Safari!

Looking forward to picking up more inspiration on here...

On the subject of business cards, anyone got some viral ideas I can use for a biz card design? ... target market is uni/college students.

I was thinking maybe saying it's a "scratch 'n sniff" card (but actually isn't) :D

Or something else along those lines that will give a laugh, they'll show/trick their friends and be exposed to the brand without it being tarnished. (i.e. I don't want people to take it the wrong way and see my brand/business as being deceitful etc).YE Blogger - World's Largest Directory of Young Entrepreneur Blogs

Actually, they might think your card is defective. But honestly I like the idea in terms of exposure. But what is it you are selling? You probably don't want a scratch 'n sniff business card for a pest removal company...lol, or maybe you do because that is just funny.Win $5 at DuctFuct.com.

Ross - I like it too. its got a great amount of information on there without seeming like 'information' overload. And something about it is very suiting for your type of business (web design and development, SEO etc).

If you do the scratch ' n sniff, you could have the "smell" be cardstock! :)
What kind of things are the college kids hanging onto and displaying? Use that to inspire the cards.

For my photography I have 24 different cards with the same text and a different photos on each business card. I let people pick the card. Its like a mini portfolio of my work when I show them the cards to choose from. They, of course, pick the card with the photo that has soemthng of interest/or that they love, on it. The lightening lover hangs on to my card with the lightening shot, the nature guy holds on to the card with an animal on it, the gardener keeps the card with the photo of a flower-you get the idea. I just attatch my info to somethng they would hang on to anyways.Jan

    Jan, have you seen moo.com?

Those are some photos of the set I just got. They use your Flickr photos and make little 'calling cards' with your business card details on the back. Similar idea to what you mention but possibly an easier system if you're interested. I love the idea of having a variety of cards though - especially for a photographer!I'm Ross Hill from Thrive Web Marketing. Thrive with us today.

I have not heard of moo.com
The cards don't look like the same size as a business card, so I'm not sure it would work for that, but I love the idea! My mind is already coming up with LOTS of ideas of things to do with them. I have a few things to be catching up on, but getting some of my pics on flickr and getting those cards are certainly goingto be added to my list...thank you!Jan

You're right, they're smaller - but they fit a couple of lines of info on the back so they could work.

Downside as you are probably aware: they won't nicely fit into the average business card holder :(I'm Ross Hill from Thrive Web Marketing. Thrive with us today.

I dont see that as a downside. Oddly shaped business cards tend to get more exposure than ones that nicely fit away in business card holders. Outside the box.Win $5 at DuctFuct.com.

I think it depends on the industry and arena. As a consultant - oddly fitting business cards are annoying. As an artist, photographer etc - oddly fitting business cards only further convey the image of you as an artist (as long as they're not so odd that they detract from what you're trying to convey).

I found an AWESOME business card for an executive chef - it was a normal sized metal business card that was cut outs of a fork, knife and spoon. (So think, metal rectangle, with fork, knife and spoon going across the card) and then his information was contained on each utensil. AWESOME!! (He cooks for famous people).EntrepreneurGirls Business, from the female perspective

I used to like the idea of oddly shaped and 'unique' cards but after going to a couple of networking events if it won't fit in a card holder a lot of people will just throw it out straight away. So both sides have ups and downs I guess :)I'm Ross Hill from Thrive Web Marketing. Thrive with us today.

I reckon if somebody is organised enough to have a business card holder they are probably the type of person who is likely to say "Oh why don't you call this guy I met a few weeks ago... I can't remember his name but I've got the card - I'll give it to you."

I'll judge the clients I want when I meet them, I don't want to filter them based on whether they think the shape of my card is practical or not.I'm Ross Hill from Thrive Web Marketing. Thrive with us today.
